Local Gift Company Kick-Starts its Christmas Sales
Abergavenny-based The Country Gift Company has hailed its debut at a national event as a great success. The company was selected by Country Living magazine to be one of the partners for the annual Country Living Christmas Fair held in London and exceeded its sales targets every day of the event.
Vicky Neal, co-owner of The Country Gift Company says: "We were thrilled to be asked to take part in this major event, especially as there is such a strict approval procedure for exhibitors, but the high standard of our gift-wrapped baskets shone through. Being selected by the Fair?s organisers to provide a complimentary basket and gift-wrap service to visitors attracted a lot of people to our stand."
The Country Gift Company already has a strong corporate customer base, but taking part in this event has been a really successful way for them to raise their awareness amongst the general public. Vicky Neal says: "In the last month we have seen a 300% increase in the number of visitors to our website, and with the busy christmas shopping season upon us this event has really kick-started our christmas sales.
"We had never exhibited at such a large event before so were not sure what to expect. As it turned out, we beat our sales targets by 40% and made valuable contacts with people wanting large or regular orders. Word of the quality of our baskets spread fast - on the last day a lady came to our stand and bought all our remaining stock. She only came to the Fair to see us and we are in discussions about her placing a regular monthly order to sell our baskets in her London shop. Fantastic."
Suzy Scholefield co-owner has one final word for anyone else considering exhibiting at a national event: "Making the decision to exhibit at a large event turned out to be the easy part. As well as the money you have to invest such as the cost of your stand space, hotel and travel costs, you have to invest a large amount of your time as well. We are only a small company and this event was a huge step for us. Only time will tell whether we were right to take the plunge, but sales figures and enquiries so far are showing that our investment is paying off."
Country Living Christmas Fair
Head for our stand (F20) in the Food Hall for a free gift-wrapped hamper basket.
The first 50 visitors to the stand each day will be given a complimentary basket for their Christmas delicacies which will be hand wrapped and beautifully presented free-of-charge.
Also on offer on the stand will be a wonderful selection of gifts for every occasion-not just for Christmas. From traditional wooden toys to luxurious handmade toiletries, visitors will be able to purchase individual gifts or order a pre-prepared or bespoke gift basket for guaranteed delivery before Christmas.

THE COUNTRY GIFT COMPANY IS LAUNCHED.
We would like to introduce you to our newly renamed business THE COUNTRY GIFT COMPANY originally called Books in the Box. We decided to change the name as it no longer reflected what our business was about.
As two mums with five children between us we decided to start the business as we were trying to solve the work-life balance of working and still being able to look after our children.
As a company we try to support other businesses who like us are trying to earn a living and care for their families.
